Now I know little about video but I've swapped some video files I think they are .avi. I'm running Vista and WMP11, when I play the files the sound is way out of sync with the picture so much so that they're un-watchable which is a PITA as they took ages to dld.
Is there a fix for this ie a way to re-sync sound and video??

What do you mean "swapped some video files"?

Have a look at this thread to see if it relates to your problem.

I got the movie .avi's from a m8, ie I didn't rip them myself.
It's nothing to do with iPod, I play them on my PC using WMP11 and the sound lags way behind the picture.
Is there a setting to tweak or another way to re-sync sound and picture? Please

I think it's to do with the settings at the rip stage. I've done it in the past and had to try multiple combinations of settings before I got it right. I don't think that once it's ripped / converted you can resync, but I may be wrong.

You could always try playing the file on another player (ie Winamp) to see if it has the same outcome. It might just be WMP that's not decoding it correctly. hmm

If it`s out by the same amount from beginning to end there are several things you could try. You could probably edit it in Vegas or Premiere. Or if you have the gear you could re-record it on a DVD recorder (or PC) but breaking into the audio channel and placing some sort of delay in there. Or rip out the audio and start it playing at a time which is in sync with the vid.

But if it gets more out of sync as time goes on then I reckon it`s been badly ripped and would take major effort to resync it.

Have I explained that ok? :o

OK guys Thanks for your help. I've played the two films in Nero and got the same problem. I'll try and scare up a copy of winAmp and give that a go. Cheers!
