Hey all,

My parents bought a Sony LBT-XB20 about 3/4 years ago second hand, And was only ever used by me, and even then must've only been used about 10 times during that time. Anyway, my old hi-fi that was in my room decided to die tonight, so I replaced it with the Sony. Turned it on, and started to play the music off my PC. I tried to then turn it up, and I had to turn the volume knob clockwise about 5 times just to get it up to a level 2 volume. I'm sure the pot for the volume knob is broken... but my question is is it easy to fix? Or would I need to put it in the shop for repairs?

Does the assembly feel loose? It may just be the locking washer come loose.
If you feel comfortable about opening it up then take a look inside, if not, take it to a local TV/Hi-Fi repair shop.
If it`s easy to get at and only come loose it should cost buttons.
If it needs a replacement part that could be a different matter.
Let us know how yo get on.
Good luck

Well to have any sort of control over the volume, i seem to have to push on the bottom half of the knob, and then i have a little more control over it. During the weekend I'll take it apart. By the way, it doesn't feel loose at all...

Is it any source that has this volume problem or just your PC input? If it's just the PC it might be your Windows Mixer Output level that is too low. hmm

It doesn't sound right that you can turn the volume dial round that many times. It sounds as if there's nothing connected to the end of it. frown
