Might sound like a strange request but I can't think of an answer to this one. Maybe there isn't an answer. hmm

Basically, a family member has bought a digital camera but doesn't have a PC. Now, operating it and getting prints isn't a problem. The problem is, how to "store" the photos without a PC. Is there, or are there, any gadgets out there that will allow you to insert an SD card and back it up?

The only solution I have come up with so far is to just buy a 1 or 2GB SD card and when it's full, buy another one. Let's face it, they're not exactly very expensive are they. I could always back them up on my PC and then to CD-R but the independent approach would be preferable.

Yes there are portable HDDs around made specifically for backing up your pics, they are specifically aimed at providing storage eg whilst on holiday. Archos a french company started the ball roling a few years ago. There are also various adaptors around for backing up to an iPod.
Start at SVP and go on from there. Am also getting good results down at my mega Asda store "every little helps" as they say ;-)
