Hi Dame,

This problem could be caused by many things.
The 1st obvious thing to check is that your HiFi is ok [you've probably checked this already] by playing a regular CD.
I suspect that the problem is caused by the connector lead from hifi to PC. The connectors used are notoriously shoddy so make sure all your plugs are pushed fully home.
Oh! and check the lead is stereo I presume one end has two phono plugs which connect to the hifi but check the mini jack on the other end it should have three distinct sections at the end, the almost-spherical tip, a thin band of black insulation, a thin band of metal, another thin band of black insulation, then the rest of the metal "prong" if there's only one ring of black insulation the it's a mono plug - go buy a stereo one.
Play a record and open your recording prog and somewhere there should be an input level display ie a double bargraph showing left and right channels both should be "bobbing" up and down. Record a track save it makeing sure u r saving a STEREO .wav then display the wav. The .wav should be clearly shown as l&r waveforms one above the other. If u r not getting a stereo .wav then go back and check everything over again.

Come back and tell us how you got on.

As you can play CDs through both channels it's not a speaker problem but an Amp Deck one.

Sounds like you've got a dodgy deck lead or dodgy phono plug make sure they're both inserted fully at the deck end and the amp end.

If that doesn't sort it swap the plugs over at the Amp input ie l>r r>l if the sound then swaps over to the other speaker then the deck/lead is at fault if the sound comes from the same speaker then the problem lies with the Amp.

hi
i have a built in amp on the record deck also ivejoined both speaker wires togeather and both speakers work off the righ hand speaker sockets its the only way i can find to get the record deck playing through both speakers if i do the same on the left hand speaker sockets i get no sound cds that are originals work fine (apart from when both speakers are wired togeather and plugged in to left hand speaker sockets) however i wire the speakers and ive also noticed my 3.5mm jack plug to 3.5mm jack plug cable is mono and not stereo so does not fit head phone socket well had to wiggle it to find good position for the sound to sound good through the pc so will try and get a 5metre stereo one tommorow if currys do one that long i have a short one but have to keep moving the stereo and wife is getting cheesed off with me dont worry if this is starting to sound to complicated to you ill get there in the end
THANK YOU

I know it's not your speakers coz you've already said you get 2 channel stereo sound when you play cds. It is therefore patently clear that the deck or phono input of the amp is at fault. Don't mess around with swapping speakers any more or you'll blow the amp - leave the speakers alone they work fine.
If you follow my instructions we;ll get you sorted if you don't then u r just wasting my time - and I cannot help u any further.

B4 u try recording to your HDD you need to get your deck playing in stereo through your speakers.

Is the lead that is plugged into the Line-In a stereo jack (3 segments) and not a Mono one (2 segments) ?

When you initially record the .wav onto the PC does that play stereo ?
