I can't get wifi reception around my house completely despite being of a modest size, it is, however, 3 story and I' rett sure the floors are concrete - I'm only getting reception on other floors in the stair well.
I've gooled about a bit and apparently there are some firmware h*cks [ahem I mean unofficial upgrades]for dLink routers - but I don't have a Dlink I have a Sweex and also a Netgear [I can't decide which one to use]. So I'm wondering if any of you Toolers can help with signal boosting suggestions official or otherwise?
Btw one soltion as I have 2 routers wold be to somehow link them up on ifferent floors - anyone know how 2 do that?

i had real probs with my netgear router (although its apparantly a very good unit). One thing is to change the channel. They say 1,6,11 are the ones to use, but in reality all are fine. I think microwaves and phones affect certain channels, as, of course, do other wireless routers, so that may help boost it.

Also, try and get you router as central to all of your pcs as possible, but apparantly higher is better than lower.

Finally, how about an access point? Works kinda like a tv ariel boaster and you could have it on a different floor to your router
