The Scan SC-2000 seperate DVD player. Do you notice a low volume level output from the player? When I watch normal TV the volume on the TV is set at about 20. When I watch a DVD I have to up the volume to around 35 / 40 to get the same level. Do you experience the same and if so, is there anything that can be done to up the output level? The actual DVD output level is set to max and I don't want to add another amp inbetween.

Hmm ... mine's in the loft now Mark (relegated to "spare" status)
Can't really help you there 'cos I didn't have that many DVDs back then - have now got plenty but play 'em in the 440LSI wink

Q. are we talking 'riginal DVDs here or summat else ? dodgy

Way back when VCDs were all the rage, I used to come across this a lot due the default settings in TMPGenc being set too low - I guess what I'm trying to get at is you aint got VCD on DVDr have you mofo ? if this is the case, you can expect a volume loss to a certain extent - if this aint the case, you got me flummoxed smile

No, I only have a handfull of bought DVDs and mainly use it for rentals at the weekend. It's a general "trait" so to speak. I have a Philips VCR that has the same problem. I know it's not the TV input because it was the same on my old one. Just wondering whether or not it's some sort of specification that manufacturers have to adhere to or it's the Scan 2000 in general that has a low volume output.

Ive still got a 2000.....and i have found that as well.
But i think it has more to do with the volume levels on the disc than the player, coz some dvds i have to turn DOWN and others are ok

I think u r experiecimg general device volume mismatch frown , happens with vcrs 2 and across the input on your hifi - between cd, tuner and tape say.

Clever kit like my B&O tv/vcr lets me equalise volume levels across the inputs. Then i get equal volume between devices, then nicely when we have a pwr cut[every other day] the thing resets to default and i'm back 2 square 1 dodgy
