From what i've gleamed Lite-on cd-rw drives seem to be popular around here.
And i've heard from large amounts of different people not to burn audio above 2x, so this is the way i do mine (i'm never in a particular hurry!).
I think crackles and errors might start creeping in when burning quickly......i'm sure someone else will explain it better.
Peace

I am extremely pleased with my Plexy 24x10x40.

I have managed to copy entire CD's with CloneCD in about 4 to 5 minutes with no problems or read errors on the target disc.

With modern CD writers the highest speed generally does not produce a higher BLER (BLock Error Rate), basically writing audio faster does not increase the errors hence no cracks.

If this does occur it is generally down to poor quality media.

Ive writen audio from 2x to 32x (using branded media) and never had a problem with playback, also the error level on the disc was not drasatically different smile

So my advice is burn at the fastest speed you can biggrin

Is there a way i can test different speeds in Nero and check the error rate? I'm using Division 80min blanks (probably more at the ghetto end of media!).
Although this leads me on to the one triumph in my life, i ordered 10 Division blanks in jewel cases from ebuyer.com, but they accidentely sent me a spindle of 100 unboxed instead (must have been some poor soul recovering from new years with blurry vision!) hehe. Worked out about 3p a disc. Nice.
Cheers
