Hello!

I'm often watching movies from my PC, but it's very annoying when the speech is low and the soundeffects wakes up the neighbours.
Is there any mixer/sound driver that can normalize the sound in realtime, or set a "ceiling" that will bring down the high sounds?
There are tons of applications for normalizing one or more files, but it would be very nice to do this in realtime at playback.

Thank you in advance!
/Jonas

Looks like your getting into the realms of pro-audio here. The only thing I am aware of is studio equipment such as the NanoCompressor or 3630 Compressor which incorporate a "noise gate", compressing or capping the signal when it reaches a certain level.

Your player should have a setting. In PowerDVD there is a compressed audio setting in configuration under audio. Most standalones also have a way to limit the dynamic range.

Did some searching and found that n-Track Studio supports DX plug-ins and they have a noise gate called FASoft Compressor . Might be worth a look. wink

I could not get n-track studio to run the compressor in the shareware-version. However, I've found a program that does exactly what I want:

Thanks Jos. We've added it to the Plug-ins section. wink
