The XP PC has started playing up again. One day it will start immediately, the next I need a few power button presses with ½ hour intervals to let it recover. I suspect the PSU.

Anyway, new PC ordered (collect from Novatech Thursday) and I'm going to give Win 7 a punt.

Looking at compatibility, Nero7 isn't as far as I can gather, even though a new version 7 update was released last week.

I only really use Nero Burning Rom, Wave Editor and the Cover Creator which is a waste of paying out £50+ for.

Any alternatives?

When I upgraded from XP to Vista my version of Nero (I think it was V6) wasn't compatible so I bought Nero 7 Premium off eBay which stated that it was Vista compatible. I have since upgraded from Vista to 7 and it works fine on there too.

Ah ha

Nero 7 Premium is the one I have.

So the blurb that states it's not compatible is rubbish - ta smile

Unless they are talking installation issues (this will be a clean build)

Well it was stated initially that you couldn't upgrade from XP to 7 but I bought the Vista to 7 upgrade and it had options to do both Vista and XP. The only difference is that with Vista to 7 you can just upgrade normally but XP to 7 you have to back up all of your data because it formats the hard drive.

Now running on the Win7 machine.

Not tried Nero yet but other stuff that M$ reckon is incompatible seems to be working OK

Nero7 seems fine smile

As does:

Digital Image Pro 2006
Paintshop Pro Photo X1
Money 2005 UK

all reckoned to be incompatible with Win7 by the M$ compatibility site

It's just the games that are temperamental, including the M$ ones like the AoE trilogy.
