I have a webcam so I know I can get sound thru my USB port. Can I use this port for recording from vinyl instead of using the 3.5 input on back of the computer. If so where can I get the right patch cord to go from my pre-amp to the USB port.

Hi denperkins. Have a look at this thread - that`s what it`s all about.

Good luck.

Yes you can use the USB port but you will need some type of interface kit between the PC and the pre-amp as it's not possible to simply connect a cable between the two directly. Something like the Sound Blaster Easy Record, the Alto Edge USB Audio Input Interface UCA202 or, if you want to spend a little more, take a look at the M-Audio Transit.

There's probably many more available now. Have a look at these Google results for USB Audio Input Device.
